What is symbolic release

Symbolic release refers to a gesture through which a person chooses to place something that weighs on them, an inner burden, into a space designed to receive it, without seeking to resolve it, repair it, or explain it. It is neither a solution nor a form of repair. It is a conscious, voluntary, and symbolic act, performed within a defined framework.

A gesture without promise

Symbolic release guarantees no measurable relief and no observable outcome. It promises neither lasting comfort, nor transformation, nor immediate change. It simply marks a passage: something is placed, here and now, within a space that receives it.

Placing without analysis

There is no need to understand what is being placed, nor to identify its meaning. Nothing needs to be justified, explained, or clearly formulated. Nothing is evaluated. Nothing is corrected. The gesture is sufficient in itself, exactly as it is.

A personal and free act

Symbolic release belongs entirely to the person who performs it. It is the result of an intimate choice. It is not evaluated by anyone, interpreted by anyone, nor exposed to an external gaze. It is subject to no imposed follow-up.

A delimited moment

Symbolic release exists within a brief and bounded moment. Once the gesture is performed and acknowledged, nothing further is required. The gesture can end there. It creates no obligation of repetition or continuation. Any possible continuity remains free, distinct, and voluntary.
